The movie came out in 1990 and was a smash hit. It is a love story that interests couples young and old alike because of the love Sam and Molly feel for one another. Younger generations can get to know the theater production adapted from the screenplay for the movie and then rent the movie to begin talking about comparisons. The production has a pop music score and provides special effects for the moments when the astral plain and the plain of reality come in contact.

The group will be performing a compilation of famous broadway theater productions such as “West Side Story,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “Memory” (Cats), “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” (The Lion King) and others. The group has sold more than 26 million albums worldwide and will be sure to bring down the house.

No doubt that sitting in the theater with the lights drawn low, one will feel that they are on the operating table like the character Mary, and the creepy Dr. Raymond is preparing for brain surgery.

The play is a claim for women everywhere that they are not alone in the change-of-life event that is menopause. Even men will be adopted into the sisterhood with sympathetic symptoms after seeing this play of four women that meet at a lingerie sale in a department store. The women, who don’t know each other, quickly find that they have a lot in common, talking about their hot flashes, forgetfulness, mood swings, wrinkles, night sweats and chocolate binges. The creator of the play, Jeanie Linders, has also founded her own fund that raises awareness for ovarian cancer.

The play, written by Mark St. Germain, places writers F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway at the famous and notorious Garden of Allah apartments in Los Angeles, California in 1938. The two famous writers deal with life in the hotel, their creative sparks and the life of being writers. Aspiring writers and struggling writers alike can watch the play and escape for a while into the minds of the characters. Hemingway never was a tenant at the Garden apartments (Fitzgerald was), spending most of his time in places like Key West, Wyoming, Toronto and Paris, so the comparisons and contrasts between the two writers’ temperaments should be interesting to note.
